What are Volatility Bands ?
Volatility bands as described on popular web sites and published articles are potential support/resistance areas based on implied volatility and expressed in terms of standard deviations. The VolBands indicator package uses the near-term at-the-money puts and calls and the closing price of the underlying security to determine the implied volatility. Volatility bands are generally used in conjunction with other confirming indicators to identify the likelihood that the security may revert to the mean. Regardless of which trading system / plan you may me utilizing, the volatility bands will prove to be a valuable addition. Many have built their trading plan around the volatility bands combined with other confirming indicators (the developer is one of these). The volatility bands provide a valuable visual / audio (if audio alerts are enabled) representation in real-time of these support and resistance areas. The bands can be displayed for literally hundreds of symbols at a time. The package is completely contained within TradeStation and requires no external data or costs whatsoever.
Kindly proceed to the Features page for an in-depth description of the VolBands package.
